About Bete Bolong North

Bete Bolong North is a farming locality on the Snowy River floodplain north of Orbost in East Gippsland, Victoria. The rich river flats were intensively farmed from the 1880s, with drainage and flood protection works begun from the early 1900s, and the wider Bete Bolong district hosted an Italian prisoner-of-war camp from 1943 to 1945 whose inmates worked on local farms.
