About Oxley Flats
Oxley Flats is a small rural locality in the Hume region of Victoria, about 20 kilometres from Wangaratta near the King River. The surrounding area was named Oxley Plains in 1824 by Hume and Hovell after John Oxley, Surveyor-General of New South Wales, and the fertile river flats support broad-acre grazing and cropping within the Milawa Gourmet Region and King Valley wine area. Snow Road provides the main access through the locality, and the King River offers recreational fishing and birdwatching opportunities.
