About Berringama
Berringama is a locality in the Towong Shire of north-east Victoria, on the Murray River at the border with New South Wales, on the Murray Valley Highway about 25 km west of Corryong. Its state school opened in 1890 and a Mechanics' Institute hall still stands. The locality sits in grazing and pine plantation country at the foot of the Australian Alps and has been proposed as a site for a pumped hydro energy storage scheme.
