About Bridgewater (Vic.)
Bridgewater is a rural locality in the Shire of Loddon, Victoria, on the Loddon River about 35 km north-west of Bendigo. It surrounds, but is separate from, the township of Bridgewater On Loddon, which grew up where the Calder Highway crosses the river. The district is largely agricultural, supporting sheep grazing, cereals and dairying, and its flour mill, opened in 1874, still operates.
