About Leonards Hill
Leonards Hill is a village in the Shire of Hepburn in Victoria, south of Daylesford on the Ballan road. It began as a sawmilling settlement supplying timber to the goldfields at Daylesford, Creswick and Ballarat, and at its height in the 1860s had four sawmills, a hotel, shops and a post office. The village is named after the timber splitter W P Leonard, who took up land on the hill in the 1860s, and its public hall dates from 1884.
