About Wynyard

Wynyard is a town on the north-west coast of Tasmania, on the Inglis River about 17 km west of Burnie. First settled as Table Cape and renamed after Major-General Edward Buckley Wynyard in the early 1850s, it became a busy port for the surrounding farmland, whose red volcanic soils are well suited to potato and vegetable growing.
