About Acton (Tas.)
Acton is a residential suburb of Burnie in north-west Tasmania, about 3 kilometres south of the town centre in the City of Burnie. It was gazetted as a locality in 1966, and its name is thought to be a corruption of Atkinson, the family that once owned a farm in the area. The suburb is home to schools, parks and family-friendly amenities, and the former Acton Primary School now houses the Burnie Child and Family Centre.
