About Dysart (Tas.)
Dysart is a rural locality in the Southern Midlands of Tasmania, about 52 km north of Hobart. Until about 1875 the area was known as Shepton Monacute; the name Dysart, given to the parish in 1836, comes from the Dysart Park property, possibly named for Dysart in Scotland. The township flourished during the construction of the main road and later the railway, with numerous hotels and lodging-houses catering for travellers.
