About Dunalley
Dunalley is a fishing village on Tasmania's east coast, on the narrow isthmus that joins the Tasman and Forestier Peninsulas to the rest of the island, about 57 km east of Hobart. The settlement grew around the Denison Canal, cut between Dunalley Bay and Blackman Bay and opened in 1905 as Australia's only purpose-built sea canal, a short-cut for boats heading to the east coast and a stop for Sydney-Hobart race yachts returning north.
