About Arthurs Lake

Arthurs Lake is a locality in the Central Highlands of Tasmania, centred on the reservoir of the same name. The Arthurs Lake Dam, completed in 1965 across the Lake River, stores water used to generate hydro-electric power at Tods Corner Power Station, Tasmania's only pumped-storage hydro-electric station. European explorers first saw the lake in 1825, when John Helder Wedge identified it as the source of the Lake River.
