About Risdon

Risdon is a historic suburb on the eastern bank of the Derwent River in Clarence, about 12 kilometres north of Hobart. It is the site of the first British attempt to settle Van Diemen's Land in 1803, when Lieutenant John Bowen anchored at Risdon Cove with 48 free settlers, and the Risdon Cove Historic Site preserves this pioneering history.
