About Claremont (Tas.)
Claremont is a suburb on the River Derwent in Hobart's northern suburbs, in the City of Glenorchy, best known as the home of Tasmania's Cadbury chocolate factory. The factory, opened in 1921 as Cadbury's first outside the United Kingdom, sits on a peninsula extending into the Derwent and is the largest Cadbury factory in Australia, producing the nation's Dairy Milk, Freddo and Caramello Koala blocks. Around it, the Cadbury Estate was laid out as a model village for workers, and the suburb has grown into one of Glenorchy's major residential areas.
