About Renmark West

Renmark West is a locality in the Riverland region of South Australia, located on the Murray River. The area was part of Australia's first irrigation settlement, established in 1887 by the Chaffey Brothers from Canada. It features citrus orchards, vineyards, and irrigated farmland, with multicultural heritage including German, Greek, and Italian influences. The nearby Renmark Hotel (1897) was the first community-owned hotel in the British Empire.
