Normanville is a coastal town on the west coast of the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia, located 77 kilometres south of Adelaide at the mouth of the Bungala River. Established by Robert Norman, South Australia's first dentist, in 1849, Norman opened the Normanville Hotel in 1851 where the first district council meeting was held. The town grew to become a successful wheat exporting port using the nearby jetty before losing importance with the development of Adelaide. The heritage-listed Normanville Court House, Ferguson's Flour Mill, Dickson Beach House and the Normanville Wesleyan Cemetery are notable landmarks. Normanville Beach and jetty are popular attractions and the town is in the Southern Fleurieu wine region. It is the largest regional centre on the western side of the Fleurieu Peninsula. The suburb had a population of 864 at the 2006 census.
