About Culburra
Culburra is a town and locality in the Australian state of South Australia, about 158 kilometres south-east of the state capital of Adelaide and about 77 kilometres south-east of the municipal seat of Tailem Bend, on the Dukes Highway and the Melbourne-Adelaide railway. Its name is an indigenous word meaning "plenty of sand". The settlement was earlier known as Dewson; its railway station, opened in 1911 as Dewson siding, was renamed Culburra in 1915 and closed in 1990.
