About Claypans

Claypans is a locality in the Murray Mallee region of South Australia, about 10 kilometres north-east of Purnong in the Mid Murray Council. Its name comes from the claypan where the first settlers camped, and it once had a Methodist church (1928) and a school that operated from 1907 to 1947.
