About American River
American River is a town on the western shore of Eastern Cove on Kangaroo Island in South Australia, located about 19 kilometres south-east of Kingscote. Established in 1842, it takes its name from American sealers who camped in the area in 1803. The town overlooks Pelican Lagoon, a popular spot for birdwatching and kayaking.
