About SA Remainder

SA Remainder is the unincorporated outback of far north-western South Australia, a remote arid region on the southern fringe of the Great Victoria Desert. It is traditional Anangu country, held as Maralinga Tjarutja lands since the Maralinga Tjarutja Land Rights Act 1984, and includes the areas of the British atomic tests at Emu Field and Maralinga in the 1950s. The community of Oak Valley, established in 1985, is the main settlement, and the region is very sparsely populated.
