About Hambidge
Hambidge is a locality on the Eyre Peninsula in the Australian state of South Australia, in the District Council of Cleve, about 140 kilometres (87 miles) north of Port Lincoln and 15 kilometres (9.3 miles) north-east of Lock. The locality takes its name from the Hundred of Hambidge, which was named in 1957 after Clive M. Hambidge, the Surveyor General of South Australia from 1937 to 1950. Much of the locality is occupied by the Hambidge Wilderness Protection Area, proclaimed on 30 September 2004 on land that had been reserved since 1941 as a flora and fauna reserve.
