About Urania

Urania is a rural locality in the Yorke Peninsula Council area of South Australia, about 25 kilometres from Moonta. The gently undulating landscape supports broad-acre wheat and barley cropping and sheep grazing on the rich clay soils of the Yorke Peninsula, and Cadoolowie Lagoon is a notable water feature within the locality. The name derives from the Greek word meaning heavenly, and the area is characterised by sparse settlement about 13 kilometres inland from the Gulf St Vincent coast.
