About Caltowie
Caltowie is a small historic town in the Mid North of South Australia, roughly 225 kilometres north of Adelaide, on the Wilkins Highway and Crystal Brook-Broken Hill railway line between Gladstone and Jamestown. Originally a bullock team camping site, the name derives from an Aboriginal word meaning lizard's waterhole, and the surrounding district supports broadacre wheat, barley and sheep grazing.
