About Armagh

Armagh is a small historic village about three kilometres west of Clare in the western Clare Valley, named after Armagh in Ireland. Founded in 1850 to support a copper mine at Emu Flat operated by the Royal Mining Company, the mine was never commercially successful and most of the old town has vanished. What remains includes a brick kiln, claypit and the Miner's Home Hotel, now a private museum.
