About Walkerville (SA)
Walkerville is one of Adelaide's most affluent suburbs, located approximately four kilometres north-east of the Adelaide CBD in the Town of Walkerville. Established in 1838 and named after Captain John Walker of the Royal Navy who took up land in the district, the suburb is home to St Andrew's Anglican Church, construction of which began in 1847, and the Wesleyan Cemetery on Smith Street with approximately 3,785 burials. Walkerville includes St Andrew's Anglican School, established in 1850, Walkerville Primary School, established in 1884, and St Monica's Parish School, established in 1926. In 2012, Walkerville was reported as South Australia's second top earning suburb.
