About Summertown

Summertown is a historic town in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia, located 16 kilometres east of Adelaide at an elevation of around 522 metres in the Piccadilly Valley. Named for its cooler summer temperatures, the area features apple and cherry orchards, cool-climate vineyards and market gardens, and the heritage-listed Summertown Institute built in 1884. The Mount Lofty Hotel, a two-storey stone building erected in 1884, is another notable landmark in the town.
