About Parkside (SA)
Parkside is an inner southern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia, located approximately 2.4 kilometres south of the Adelaide central business district within the City of Unley. Established in 1849, the suburb was historically notable as the site of the Royal Adelaide Hospital's mental health campus, known as the Parkside Asylum, which once occupied roughly one-third of the suburb's area. Parkside lies along the southern boundary of the Adelaide Park Lands and is bounded by Glen Osmond, Greenhill, Unley, and Fullarton roads. It contains several public parks including Howard Florey Reserve, Henry Codd Reserve, and McLeay Park. The suburb is within walking distance of the Unley Road shopping and dining precinct and is home to the Slingsby Theatre Company on Glen Osmond Road.
