About Millswood

Millswood is an inner-southern residential suburb of Adelaide in the City of Unley, located 5 kilometres south of the Adelaide central business district. Named after Scotsman Samuel Mills who arrived in the colony in 1839 and owned a property called Ravenswood Farm, the suburb is dissected by Goodwood Road. The heritage-listed Goodwood Subway is a deep railway underpass where Goodwood Road passes under the railway line and is known for flooding during heavy rain. Millswood railway station on the Belair line was closed in 1995 and reopened in 2014 after 19 years. The suburb is home to SASMEE Park, the South Australian Society of Model and Experimental Engineers, and the Millswood Croquet, Lawn Bowls and Lawn Tennis clubs. Goodwood Oval features a grandstand with playground, BBQ facilities, soccer pitch, cricket nets and tennis courts.
