About Nanango

Nanango is a rural town in the South Burnett Region, Queensland, about 150 kilometres northwest of Brisbane. One of Queensland's oldest towns, settled in the 1840s, its name derives from the Wakka Wakka word nunangi. The town was an early junction for routes to the Darling Downs and Burnett Valley, and the heritage-listed Nanango Butter Factory dates from 1926.
