About Mundubbera
Mundubbera is a rural town on the Burnett River in the North Burnett Region of Queensland, about 363 km north-west of Brisbane, near the Binjour Plateau. Its name comes from an 1848 pastoral property, said to mean meeting place of the waters, where the Burnett, Auburn and Boyne rivers converge. Closer settlement from the early 1900s and the arrival of the railway in 1914 set the town up as a fruit-growing centre, and Henry Zipf's first citrus orchards of 1933 made Mundubbera one of Queensland's biggest producers of citrus and table grapes. It calls itself the Citrus Capital of Queensland, a title contested by rival town Gayndah.
