About Binjour
Binjour is a rural locality in the North Burnett Region of Queensland, situated on the Burnett Highway between Mundubbera and Gayndah. The area centres on the Binjour Plateau, a raised agricultural district first surveyed in the late 1890s for closer settlement and opened up in the early 1900s — many of the original settlers were German immigrants. Today the plateau supports cattle grazing and farming, and a rest area at the top offers views across the surrounding Burnett River countryside. Binjour State School opened in 1913, when many local children could not speak English.
