About Saxby
Saxby is a vast outback rural locality in the Shire of Richmond in North West Queensland, located about 116 kilometres north-northwest of Richmond and 614 kilometres west of Townsville. The landscape features extensive low-lying alluvial plains with the Saxby River rising in the northeast and flowing southwest through the locality. Saxby Downs pastoral station has existed since at least 1877, and an artesian bore struck water at 700 feet in 1893. The station supports approximately 25,000 head of cattle, on the traditional country of the Waanyi people.
