About Quilpie

Quilpie is a rural town and locality in south-western Queensland, serving as the administrative centre of the Shire of Quilpie. The district's economy is based on grazing and mining, and the area holds one of the world's largest deposits of boulder opal as well as extensive gas and oil fields. The locality also includes the small town of Toompine.
