About Wamuran
Wamuran is a rural town in the City of Moreton Bay, Queensland, about 50 kilometres north-west of Brisbane, lying below Mount Mee in the D'Aguilar Range. The town is named after Menvil Wanmaurn, a local Aboriginal leader also known as Jackie Delaney, whose name was given to an early banana plantation in the district. Formerly known as Wararba, the settlement became Wamuran after the railway arrived in 1909. Wamuran is the centre of a fruit-growing district on the D'Aguilar Highway, and its roadside stalls are known for selling locally grown strawberries, pineapples and other produce fresh from the farms.
