About Alberta
Alberta is a remote rural locality in the Shire of Banana in Central Queensland, located about 115 kilometres west-northwest of Biloela and 670 kilometres northwest of Brisbane. Named after the Canadian province of Alberta, the landscape features open woodlands and grazing lands in the Dawson Valley, with part of the Dawson Range State Forest in the northwest used for commercial forestry. The broader Shire of Banana takes its name from a bullock called Banana, thought to be the first of its breed seen in the district, and the area supports beef cattle production and grain farming.
