About Simpson (NT)
Simpson is a locality in the south-east corner of the Northern Territory, about 1,427 km south-east of Darwin and adjoining the states of Queensland and South Australia. The locality, gazetted in 2007, is named after the Simpson Desert, which was named in 1929 by explorer C. T. Madigan after Alfred Allen Simpson, president of the South Australian branch of the Royal Geographical Society.
