About Nicholson (NT)
Nicholson is a locality in the east of the Northern Territory, adjoining the border with Queensland about 963 km south-east of Darwin, in the Barkly Region. It takes its name from the Nicholson River, which the explorer Ludwig Leichhardt named during his 1844-45 expedition in honour of Dr William Alleyne Nicholson of Bristol.
