About Mount Liebig

Mount Liebig is an Aboriginal community in the Northern Territory, about 325 kilometres west of Alice Springs, named after the mountain of the same name. Known locally as Amunturrngu or Watiyawanu, it is part of the Pintupi-Luritja settlement network that includes Haasts Bluff and Papunya, and most residents came originally from those communities. The settlement grew from a stock bore sunk in 1946 and became an official outstation service centre in 1982. It lies in the MacDonnell Region.
