About Hart (NT)
Hart is a locality in the Central Desert Region of the Northern Territory, about 1,259 kilometres south-east of the territory capital of Darwin. The locality takes its name from the Harts Range, named in 1870 by explorer John Ross after John Hart, then Premier of South Australia, and the site of a former mica mining field. Hart fully surrounds the Aboriginal community of Atitjere, and its boundaries and name were gazetted on 4 April 2007.
