About Stuart Park
Stuart Park is an inner suburb of Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia, located approximately 3 kilometres from the Darwin central business district. The area is the traditional country of the Larrakia people. Originally part of Parap, the suburb derives its name from the park and camp area near the Stuart Highway, which was named after the Scottish explorer John McDouall Stuart. Following World War II, army hutments remained in the area after the Australian Army's departure in 1946, and the locality was formally established in the 1950s. Predominantly residential, Stuart Park is situated near the George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens and the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory.
