About Dangar Island

Dangar Island is a forested island in the Hawkesbury River, on the northern outskirts of Sydney, New South Wales. Governor Arthur Phillip, who explored the river in March 1788, named it Mullet Island for the fish his party caught there; it was bought in 1864 by Henry Carey Dangar and renamed in his honour. No cars are allowed on the island, which is served by a regular ferry from Brooklyn.
