About Carrington Falls

Carrington Falls is a rural locality in the Southern Highlands and Shoalhaven region of New South Wales, located about 7 kilometres east-southeast of Robertson in the Municipality of Kiama. Named after Carrington Falls, a plunge waterfall on the Kangaroo River where it crosses the western escarpment of the Budderoo Plateau descending 130 to 160 metres to the Kangaroo Valley floor, the falls are protected within Budderoo National Park. The area was once thick rainforest known as Yarrawa Brush, and surveyor Robert Hoddle surveyed a track from Bong Bong to Kiama in 1830 through the rainforest, while the Missingham family established a sawmilling business in the early 1900s working the surrounding forests with bullock teams for four generations until closure in the 1980s.
