About Tooloom
Tooloom is a small rural locality in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, within the Kyogle Shire local government area, near the headwaters of the Clarence River. The area was the site of the Tooloom gold field, where gold was discovered in 1857 and within a few years up to 10,000 people were mining placer gold in the Tooloom valley. Tooloom Creek flows south-west through the area, and the Tooloom National Park lies nearby.
