About Keerrong
Keerrong is a locality in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, within the City of Lismore and about 18 kilometres north of the town centre. It lies in the subtropical hinterland on the traditional lands of the Widjabul and Wia-bal peoples of the Bundjalung Nation. Known to early European settlers as Fox Ground, it was renamed Keerrong in 1897, a name believed to come from a Bundjalung word for the flying fox. The area is rolling green hill and dairy country.
