About Bogangar
Bogangar is a beachside town in the Tweed Shire of north-eastern New South Wales, which includes the resort locality of Cabarita Beach, Norries Headland and the wetland of Cudgen Lake, adjoining the Cudgen Nature Reserve. The name is thought to be an Aboriginal term meaning a place of many pippies, recalling the shellfish middens of the traditional Bundjalung owners. Settlement along the coast grew from the 1920s, and the area developed as a holiday village with Australia's first jet boat water ski school opening at Cudgen Lake in 1962.
