About Salisbury Plains
Salisbury Plains is a large rural locality on the New England Tablelands in northern New South Wales, named for its resemblance to England's Salisbury Plain with open, rolling grasslands at altitudes above 1,000 metres. The area is a pastoral district devoted to fine wool sheep and cattle grazing on rich basalt-derived soils, with scattered trees and wide views across the high country. It lies roughly 25 kilometres south of Uralla and 40 kilometres south of Armidale within the Uralla Shire.
