About Maules Creek
Maules Creek is a remote rural locality in Narrabri Shire, approximately 35 kilometres south of Narrabri in north-western New South Wales. The landscape encompasses farmland and bushland on the foothills of Mount Kaputar National Park, with deep black soil plains suited to mixed farming and cattle studs. The locality gained national attention as the site of a controversial open-cut coal mine within the Leard Forest Mining Precinct.
