About Drake Village

Drake Village is a small highland locality in the New England Tablelands of New South Wales, set amid dense forest near the gorge country of Gibraltar Range National Park. Gold was discovered at nearby Newmans Pinch in 1858 and tin mining followed, shaping the settlement through the 1870s to 1890s when it was a thriving mining town on the Bruxner Highway between Tenterfield and Casino.
