Tamban is a sparsely settled bushland locality in the Kempsey Shire on the NSW Mid North Coast, dominated by Tamban State Forest, a large area of native bushland with the popular Tamban Forest Walk. It sits roughly halfway between Kempsey and Macksville near the Pacific Highway corridor, with Mount Yarrahapinni visible from the forest trails.
