About Mount Thorley

Mount Thorley is a locality in the Upper Hunter Valley of New South Wales, situated approximately 15 kilometres south-west of Singleton within the Singleton Council area. The locality is defined largely by the Mount Thorley Warkworth coal mine — an integrated open-cut operation owned by Yancoal that has been producing coal since 1981 and historically employs over a thousand workers. The broader Singleton area offers schools, shopping and access to the renowned Hunter Valley wine country, while the surrounding landscape features the Hunter River valley and state forests.
