About Billys Creek
Billys Creek is a small rural locality on the Dorrigo Plateau in northern New South Wales, sitting at roughly 700 metres elevation on the New England Escarpment. It lies along the historic Grafton to Armidale route that escaped convict Richard Craig blazed through subtropical rainforest in the 1840s, followed by red cedar cutters and sawmillers. The surrounding landscape of tall eucalypt forest and cool temperate rainforest pockets is near the Dorrigo National Park, part of the Gondwana Rainforests UNESCO World Heritage Area.
