About Peak Hill (NSW)
Peak Hill is a town in Parkes Shire in the Central West of New South Wales, on the Newell Highway and the Parkes to Narromine railway line. Gold was discovered in the district in 1889, and the historic Peak Hill mine operated between 1893 and 1917, producing about 60,000 ounces. It later reopened as an open cut operation and is now a heritage tourist attraction.
